John Wooden
I was born in Miami and raised in the tri-county area of South Florida by a single mother who was an educator. I went to college at Florida International University, started my legal career, and later met my husband, whom I've been lucky to have by my side for the last 15 years. My husband and I were unhappy with the rapid, unplanned development that turned a once-quiet suburban area into unchecked urban growth. We wanted to return to the charming aesthetic of a small town conducive to raising a family. So we decided to move our three boys to Mulberry in 2021 to try to escape the overcrowding. I've spent the last years settling in, learning about our new home, and starting to plant deep roots. My life resolves around my family and, since my youngest two boys have special needs, I know something about facing unforeseen challenges. My faith has and will continue to carry our family through whatever comes our way.
I work as a real estate paralegal for an international law firm, with a specialty in large portfolios and complex commercial development. I was also formerly a licensed title insurance agent handling both high-end commercial and residential properties. My real estate and legal background provides me with the experience and knowledge needed to understand how to control unwanted development and ensure equity for all residents.
